Poetry Evening with Dalton Harrison and Kath

Dalton Harrison is the founder of StandFast Productions (a collective of people with convictions who use art and performance to tell their stories) and has worked as a teaching assistant with the Inside-Out Project at Durham University. He is studying for a BA in Criminal Justice and Criminology at the University of Leeds, where he continues to highlight the importance of prison education and discuss his experiences of being transgender in a women’s prison. Dalton has worked as a consultant for film company, diversity, lived in experience, radio, short films, workshops and regularly does public speaking as well as going into a prison pre-covid talking about hostel life. His continued Working with Prison education trust since 2019 telling his story and as an alumni in there development groups penning the forework for their new strategies in prison agenda. Dalton has written articles for Inside Time, Pink News and Sister Magazine x TGN, and his poetry has been published in the award-winning anthology Bloody Amazing and TransVerse II: No Time For Silence. The Boy Behind the Wall is his first solo collection.

Kath is an award-winning, poet, playwright, artist, sculptor and lived in experience consultant.

She works with various agencies as a teaching assistant for the Inside Outside program at Durham University. She aims to raise public awareness of the need to improve the conditions for women in prison and the general public`s view of ex-offenders.

She met Dalton on the inside in 2017 and on release in 2019 founded Standfast production collective with him. Together they wrote High Risk, a hard hitting spoken word event. Which they performed at the Holbeck Working Man`s Club in Holbeck, Leeds, where they raised close to £300 for a local charity. 2019, and live on air as part of Chapel FM`s Writing on Air festival, 2021.

She has had articles published in The Inside Times and a few poems published in internet magazines such as The Algebra of Owls. She has not yet had a collection published.

Now based in Leeds, she can regularly be found performing her poetry at events such as Poetry Night at the Left Bank Centre,.or when at home messing around with paint and power tools in the Art Cupboard!
