Day Trip to Barnard Castle & Northallerton.

August 11, 2021 @ 10:00 - 19:00

£15.00

Meet at Leeds Central Bus station outside Greggs.

Join us for a day trip to Barnard Castle & Northallerton.  Set on a high rock above the River Tees, Barnard Castle takes its name from its 12th century founder, Bernard de Balliol. It was later developed by the Beauchamp family and then passed into the hands of Richard III.  With fantastic views over the Tees Gorge this fortress sits on the fringe of an attractive working market town also known as ‘Barney’ so there is plenty to do for families on a day out. Try and spot Richard’s boar emblem carved above a window in the inner ward or visit the ‘sensory garden’ of scented plants and tactile objects.

Set between the Yorkshire Dales National Park to the west and the North York Moors National Park to the east the town has been a centre of communications for centuries. Northallerton’s wide High Street is a pleasant busy shopping centre, with many independent shops, cafes and pubs. There is a busy market on Wednesday and Saturday. All seats are £15.00.  Social distance rules apply and all  places must be pre-booked in advance and only those from the same house-hold may be seated together.
