SUMMARY:Poetry Evening with Hilary Murray and Louise Holmes
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday 16th November 7.15 p.m.  \nHilary J Murray lives in Leeds\, but grew up in Kent. She is mainly kept busy by her three daughters\, four granddaughters – and poetry. Poems have appeared in Grey Hen Press anthologies\, the pamphlet Second Bite\, and magazines. \n‘I owe a huge amount to a succession of poetry groups in Leeds – the latest incarnation is the Tiled Hall Poets’. \nLouise Holmes \nBorn in Bradford and now living in Leeds\, Louise Holmes remembers her love of poetry starting in early childhood. Louise has had poems widely published\, including in poetry journals\, magazines\, on internet platforms and in a number of anthologies. She has won several prizes for poetry and read at various events and open mics in Yorkshire and further afield. \nLouise says\, ‘I write about the small (and sometimes enormous) experiences of family life that stay with me – and about those unusual encounters and observations that bring a rich and welcome seam of the unexpected to the day-to-day. I am increasingly finding myself drawn to nature in my writing – themes which also occur in my art practice.’ \n Entrance £3.50/£3.00 members and concessions\, including refreshments. Pay on the door.

SUMMARY:Woodhouse Ridge/ Meanwood Valley Urban Farm circular walk led by Richard Bojanowski
DESCRIPTION:Woodhouse Ridge/ Meanwood Valley Urban Farm circular walk (3.5 miles) led by Richard Bojanowski.\n \nMeet 12 noon at Peel statue (across road from Wrangthorn Church)\, Hyde Park corner\, Leeds 6. Even on Sunday there are plenty of buses every hour to Hyde Park corner.\n \nWe will cross over to Cliff Lane and skirt around delightful Art Nouveau Gothic\, Cliffe Lawn House (now Wat Buddharam Buddhist Center)\, and see where Atkinson Grimshaw lived as a young man in this leavy neighbourhood.\n \nThen we descend gently down Woodhouse Ridge\, via the large wood sculpture\, and cross Meanwood Road to the Urban Farm\, where we initially greet the Alpacas (who welcome visitors on Sunday). \n \nThen we will “travel in time” on the Farm Geological Trail where there are also good spacious green views of valley.\n \nOption to have refreshments at Urban Farm cafe\, or at Hyde Park corner\, at end of walk. \nWe return via a different gentle slope up Woodhouse Ridge (I would suggest having cafe refreshments at end of walk).\n \nPoetry on theme of “Re-Wilding the City”

SUMMARY:'Wellbeing through Community Activities’ - Sabrina Piggott with Bob Lockwood
DESCRIPTION:Sabrina’s songs are full of a sense of open space and possibilities. For Sabrina is an adventuress. An award-winner. In many ways a free spirit. With roots and wings. \nHer rich traditional music background derives from her ancestral home\, the countryside of Cork\, in Ireland. And her distinctive rippling\, almost Philip Glass evoking\, acoustic guitar style sets the tone for a heart-melting voice\, with its Celtic timbre\, that pulls the emotion out of the lyrics. \n“A bold\, adventurous and exciting emergent name in the world of contemporary folk” – Folk Radio UK \nThis event was funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.\n \n\n\n\n\n\nThe performance by Sabrina Piggott and Bob Lockwood for the end of season event for Leeds Combined Arts in the Shire Oak Room at Headingley Heart.\nThose videos were recorded with permission of the artists and uploaded with their permission.\n\n \n \n\n\n
